The short version: everything stays on your phone. StepGate has no server, no accounts, no analytics, and no ads. We can't see your data — by design.
Nothing. StepGate has no server and makes no network requests with your personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking. In App Store terms, StepGate's privacy label is "Data Not Collected."
Your settings, goals, streaks, and gated-app selection are stored on your device (and in the app's shared container so its widgets and shield extensions can read them). Deleting StepGate deletes this data. You can also revoke Health access at any time in the Health app, and Screen Time access in Settings.
StepGate is a self-control tool for people managing their own screen time. It is not a parental-control or child-monitoring product and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, children included — because it collects no data at all.
If a future version of StepGate ever changes how data is handled (for example, optional iCloud sync), this policy will be updated first and the change will be called out in the App Store release notes.
